Stuart Vázquez

Drums and percussion

At age of 15 he started working and touring as a drummer, a few years later started studying  and practicing Afro-Cuban percussion studies having the opportunity to play different genres of music in México City. Stuart is primarily an autodidact drummer/percussionist. He attended music programs at Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, Escuela Superior de Música and Berklee College of Music among others. Stuart has been the drummer/percussionist in different projects playing Rock, Salsa, Funk, Jazz and other styles in México and USA. Currently Stuart performs with local bands in the Seattle area playing Rock, Blues, Jazz, Country, Salsa and Latin-Tropical/Caribbean music among other styles. He teaches drums and percussion providing clinics and workshops for schools, private and group lessons. He has worked as accompanist for dance classes and performances since 1999. For more than 8 years he has been teaching and coaching the rhythm section of The Edmonds College’s Salsa and Jazz Band. Stuart has taught and coached percussion and drum-set at Seattle Drum School of Music as well as other high schools bands in the Seattle-Everett area. His project PERCUSIONANDO is a wide mix of drums and percussion creating music and beats/loops for dance, theatrical and video productions.
